Himeji Hang Out

Today I got the privilege of joining some old and new friends out on a BBQ trip in Himeji. A good friend of mine, Rika had invited me saying that we would be first driving and then taking a speed boat out onto a small island. The island was suppose to be really pretty with an area to swim and BBQ.

The day got started off a little slow. This seems to happen often though with large groups. Once everyone got situated, a pack of about four cars drove out to Himeji. The drive was about two hours. I didn't know everyone going but there were a few other foreigners as well as another person from the same company in which I work. The drive was not so bad with company and good weather. When we had arrived, we moved our things onto the boat and headed out the the island.

The boat was a nice change of transportation from my daily trains. Once arriving at the island all of us were really confused. The island that was described and pictured looked tropical and pretty! The island we arrived at looked like a private fishing island! When we got there, there were a group of men cooking and sun bathing near the shore. In our group were half women and it seemed that we were the only women on the island!! Everyone was confused and was asking what the heck was going on! With not much option and already arriving there, we just set up our BBQ and figured why not just make the best of it.

The afternoon was spent BBQ and drinking. Some of us even swam. But being that the weather was more cloudy than sunny, I opted out of the swimming and just bathed in the sun.

After a few hours and hanging on the island, we all headed back to our cars and on to the long drive back to Osaka.

It was nice to have another BBQ and meet new friendly faces. Also summer is not complete without a few BBQs so I was glad I got to attend another one.
